How to Repurpose Old Content on Social Media

If you are a business active on social media and are stuck on what to post, out of ideas or you have shared everything worth sharing on social media already. It’s time to get repurposing! Many of your old content can be repurposed and reshared, you just have to know what to do with it. Here are my tips.

Create a Video

Video content has been the number one way to share content for the past few years and it’s here to stay. Try repurposing your old social media content into a video by sharing reels across your favourite platforms or longer videos on YouTube. Any content can be repurposed into video using an old topic as inspiration or by using your old static images and turning them into video format with captions.

Look for Evergreen Content

Over the years, you will have shared plenty of content which is classed as evergreen. This simply means that it never goes out of date. Content which usually falls under this category are service posts and updates, your business story and even testimonials. You can read a more in depth blog ‘Evergreen Content – A Beginners Guide’ I wrote here.

Use Your Old Blogs

Previous blogs are perfect for generating content on your social media channels. Pick a blog and the theme you want to run with and pull various paragraphs and topics, adding a fresh image to create a new social media post. If you have written plenty of blogs in the past, you will have lots of content to run with.

Share Content Across Different Platforms

Your content can be shared across various platforms, so if you have been using Facebook for a while and want to add an Instagram page to your business, you can tweak your old posts for the new page. Just be mindful of the different format requirements for each platform and edit your posts to suit each one before you share.

So, that’s it. It’s easy to repurpose your old social media content to keep it working for you again and again. If you need some more in depth support or advice, feel free to contact me via my contact page here.
