The Importance of Mobile Optimisation in Websites and Marketing

Welcome back to my blog, this week we will be discussing the importance of optimising your website and marketing for mobile which simply means your content and website is designed with mobile users in mind. Over half of online traffic comes from a mobile source. According to Exploding Topics:

  • Over 55% of website traffic comes from mobile devices.
  • 3% of internet users access the internet using a mobile phone.
  • There are approximately 32 billion active mobile internet users.

Now we have the stats out of the way, let’s take a closer look at why you should optimise your marketing and website efforts for mobile consumption.

More Engagement

When your digital content is optimised for mobile, users can easily navigate and find what they are looking for within your website and they will tend to stick around because they will find it easier to interact and engage with your content.

More Conversions

Optimised content will encourage more conversions. If your content and website are easy to navigate and your followers can easily see all of their options and the actions you want them to take, conversions will follow. This can be as simple as adding a ‘click to call’ button on your website, or a link to your website within your content.

Your Website and Content will be More Visible

Search Engine Results pages or SERPS will prioritise your website and content if they see that it is mobile friendly and this will drastically improve your chances of your content appearing nearer the top of the search results in Google, ultimately meaning more traffic to your website and digital assets.

Faster Load Times and Better User Experience

A mobile optimised website will provide an excellent user experience to anyone who clicks on it through their mobile device and it will also load much faster for them. This will give them all the tools they need to get to know you better.

Here are some quick tips on how to optimise your content and website for mobile users:

  • Get Responsive – Creating a responsive website means that your page size will fit the screen size of the device your viewer is using. Your website should look and act the same across desktop or mobile.
  • Keep it Simple – Your content and website should be simple, easy to read and easy to navigate, so avoid any unnecessary wording, fillers, images or anything else that might slow your user down for no reason.
  • Avoid Large Blocks of Text – When you convert longer blocks of text to a smaller mobile screen, this means your user will scroll for a long time to reach the end. Unless it’s really important, cut it out and stick to shorter snappier pieces of text.
  • Have Calls to Action within Easy Reach – Don’t make your user scroll endlessly to find your contact details, regularly add buttons on your website inviting your followers to call or contact you.
